How Much Value Does Basement Development Add to My Home?
Basement development is evaluated in resale real estate based on the quality of the development and openness of the plan.
Think about what’s presently available in the above-grade portions of the home when deciding what number and types of rooms to add to the basement. Adding two more bedrooms in a four-bedroom, two-storey may not be the smartest decision. It will take away from the openness of your basement plan and the likelihood of finding a buyer who actually needs a total of six bedrooms may be difficult (although not impossible). On the other hand, adding two bedrooms to a one-or two-bedroom bungalow plan would make nothing but sense.
Consumers love oversized windows, open spaces; and family and games room areas. So thought is definitely required when planning your basement.
